Tecnologia dá nova vida a paralisados no Second Life

Um grupo de investigadores universitários japoneses está a testar uma tecnologia que tem como objectivo ajudar as pessoas paralíticas a utilizarem o cérebro para poderem participar no mundo virtual Second Life.

De acordo com a Reuters a equipa responsável pelo projecto, sedeada na Universidade Keio e liderada pelo investigador Junichi Ushiba, já fez uma apresentação onde explicou que a tecnologia recorre à utilização de eléctrodos na cabeça do utilizador que recebem e analisam informações associadas à actividade cerebral.

Estes dados são interpretados por um computador permitindo ao utilizador controlar o seu avatar sem ter de tocar no teclado ou no rato.
